10 Day Vic Falls & Botswana Lodge Safari


This is a wonderful safari for those of us who are looking for an easy, organized safari, where all accommodation is fixed - no camping anywhere.

The tour commences in Zambia, where guests are treated to the rustic charm and luxury accommodation of Taita Falcon Lodge, where one will experience the grandeur of the mighty Zambezi River. From your lodge, you will enjoy spectacular sights and sounds of the raging Zambezi River as it thunders towards the famous Victoria  Waterfalls - world-renowned as one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.

After spending 2 days in Zambia, we begin our 8-day journey through Botswana, starting out in Savuti - one of Africa‚s most densely populated predator areas, also well known for its sightings of bull elephants. From Savuti, we head off towards the Chobe National Park, which is the second largest national park in Botswana and has one of the largest concentrations of game found on the African continent.

This safari will also take us to the well-known Moremi Game Reserve, situated in the eastern part of the Okavango Delta.

Detailed Itinerary

Days 1 & 2: Voctoria Falls, Zambia

From Johannesburg International Airport, you will fly direct to Livingstone, Zambia, where you will be met upon arrival by a representative from your lodge. Your first 2 nights in Africa will be spent at Taita Falcon Lodge – perched above Rapid 17 on the very edge of the Batoka Gorge, Taita Falcon offers superb views of the raging Zambezi waters 200m below.

Taita Falcon Lodge offers its guests rustic luxury accommodation set amidst the natural bush environment of the. Sit back, relax and enjoy the grandeur of the Zambezi and the African bush from a different point of view. This is the perfect place to enjoy all the excitement and action of the Victoria Falls whilst retaining the essential peace and tranquillity of a remote African lodge in the wildest of settings.

Various optional activities can be arranged, such as river-rafting; bungy-jumping, scenic flights over the Falls, abseiling, elephant-back safaris and much more. Overnight at Taita Falcon Lodge – Fully Inclusive Basis.

Day 3: Chobe National Park

This morning, after breakfast, you will be transferred to the Kazangula border post, where you will clear customs and cross over the Zambezi River, by ferry, into Botswana. From here you will be transferred to your lodge, situated within close proximity to the Chobe National Park, which is the second largest national park in Botswana and covers an area of 10,566 square kilometres.

This park has one of the largest concentrations of game found on the African continent. Its uniqueness in the abundance of wildlife and the true African nature of the region, offers a safari experience of a lifetime. Enjoy lunch at your lodge. This afternoon enjoy a sunset boat cruise, observing the game coming to quench their thirst in the cool waters of the Chobe River. This river is the life-blood for thousands of elephants in the dry season as well as many other species. Return to your lodge for dinner. Overnight at Chobe Safari Lodge – Fully Inclusive Basis.

Days 4 & 5: Savuti

Departing Chobe, we will drive to our next destination – Savuti, one of Africa’s most densely populated predator areas and is also well known for its sightings of bull elephants. The Savuti waterhole offers an ever-changing spectacle of birds and wildlife. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives with leisure time to relax at your lodge during the heat of the day. Days 6 & 7: Khwai River

After breakfast at our lodge, we begin our journey to the well-known Moremi Game Reserve, situated in the eastern part of the Okavango Delta. This game reserve is ideally situated for a wildlife sanctuary. It has no fences, which allows unobstructed seasonal movement of game, hence making this a largely natural area. This reserve is a paradise for birds, game and predators alike.

Moremi’s scenery, alone, is reason enough to want to visit this Park. The varied vegetation found here makes this area unique. We will spend 2 nights at Khwai River Lodge – one of the oldest safari lodges in Botswana. The camp is set under a canopy of old indigenous leadwood and fig trees and offers a commanding view of the Khwai River floodplain.

Khwai River Lodge has 15 twin-bedded en-suite luxury tents, each with its own private deck overlooking the Khwai River. Numerous hippo, elephant, antelope and bird species abound on the riverbank and the floodplain in front of the camp. The tranquil setting of the lodge belies the fact that you are in Africa until it is broken by a snorting of a hippo and trumpeting of cavorting elephants – using the river as refuge from the midday heat.

Specially constructed hides give one a chance to be up close and personal to the abundant birdlife and wildlife that wanders by. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives or guided walks, as well as exciting spotlight game drives. Overnight at Khwai River Lodge – Fully Inclusive Basis.

Days 8 & 9: Xakanaxa

The following 2 days and nights will be spent in the Xakanaxa area – at Camp Moremi Game Lodge – an authentic safari camp combining warm African hospitality with superb game-viewing. Camp Moremi is situated on the beautiful Xakanaxa Lagoon in the eastern extremity of the Okavango Delta, still within the Moremi Game Reserve.

Moremi Game Reserve supports the most diverse habitat and animal populations in Botswana, with possible sightings of wild dog, cheetah and leopard being the highlights. Resident species include lion, elephant, buffalo, hippo, giraffe, zebra, kudu, lechwe, sable and the very rare roan antelope.

Camp Moremi only accommodates a total of 22 safari guests, in beautifully furnished East-African style safari tents erected on teak sundecks – overlooking the stunning Xakanaxa Lagoon. Tracking big game on morning and afternoon game drives by open 4x4 safari vehicle, excellent bird-watching, exploring the Xakanaxa Lagoon and surrounding Okavango channels by powerboat will provide one with spectacular game sightings. Day 10: Maun - Johannesburg

This morning we will make our way back to Maun, in time to connect with your outbound flight, departing Maun at 15:00pm for Johannesburg.
