Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Windhoek - Sossusvlei Departing Windhoek International Airport by light aircraft, you will fly towards the breathtaking dunes of Sossusvlei. We will be departing at a time best suited to our guests’ incoming flight schedules. The duration of the flight will be approx. 1 hour and will provide one with unparalleled views of the surrounding desert landscape – offering a natural beauty that cannot be forgotten. Due to its many different types of vegetation and geological features, Sossusvlei is certainly one of the most unusual destinations on earth. Our first 2 nights in Namibia will be spent at an exclusive lodge set in the heart of the Namib Desert, from which one will experience magnificent views over the famous red dunes of Sossusvlei. Overnight Kulala Desert Lodge – F/B basis. Day 2: Sossusvlei Enjoy a full day at leisure in one of the most exciting photographic destinations the world over! Early morning guided game drives in 4x4 vehicles are offered to visit the spectacular dunes. Walks on the private reserve are also offered for one to experience the stunning Namib scenery, desert wildlife and smaller desert-adapted fauna and flora. Spotlit night drives are a highlight not to be missed. Early morning hot-air ballooning is another option that could be arranged, depending on the weather (additional costs would apply). Souring silently above the magnificent sand dunes is definitely a unique experience, followed by a scrumptious Champagne breakfast. For guests staying at Kulala Desert Lodge mattresses can be placed on a private stargazing platform on top of each of the 12 chalets for sleeping out under the stars - a popular option with outdoor enthusiasts. Overnight Kulala Desert Lodge – F/B basis. Day 3: Sossusvlei - Swakopmund After experiencing the Namib Desert first-hand, we will depart for our next destination - Namibia’s adventure capital - Swakopmund. During the afternoon, we depart our hotel for a tour of one of Swakopmund's Townships - for a taste of the vibrant township lifestyle of Swakopmund's traditional inhabitants. Spend one night at the beautiful 4-star Hansa Hotel. Originally built in 1905, this hotel is constructed around a quiet central garden and situated just a 3-minute from the beach. The Hansa’s restaurants are well renowned for their culinary delights, especially of fish and game. Overnight at Hansa Hotel - B&B basis. Day 4: Swakopmund This morning, we depart our hotel for a morning excursion to Walvis Bay for a Marine Extravaganza, including a seal and dolphin cruise (sometimes even spotting penguins and whales) with a scrumptious seafood lunch served on along the way. Afternoon arrival back in Swakopmund, with some time to enjoy various leisure activities available in this seaside holiday village. Some of the options on offer include as quad-biking and/or sand-boarding in the dunes, sky-diving, fishing, horse-riding, parasailing, kayaking and more. Enjoy dinner at one of the local restaurants, followed by another night at the Hansa Hotel. Overnight at Hansa Hotel – B&B basis. Days 5 & 6: Swakopmund & Damaraland We fly over the dunes of the Namib and Sossusvlei continuing westwards to Meob Bay on the Atlantic Ocean, and up along the captivating Skeleton Coast. The flight offers spectacular desert scenery, where the dunes meet the ocean. Our flight takes us over the site of the Eduard Bolen shipwrecks, amongst others. We then fly further up the Skeleton Coast before turning eastwards towards Damaraland. Enjoy 2 nights at Damaraland Camp - a rare venture which integrates communities, the environment and sustainable communities, the environment and sustainable wildlife and is rated as the most successful eco-tourism venture in Namibia. Highlights of the stay in Damaraland Camp are nature excursions into the rocky desert in search of the rare and endangered Desert Elephant and Rhino. We are in an area where the chances of encountering the Elephants are high. The area offers excellent walking and mountain biking for the more adventurous. Please, at all times, keep in mind that there are no fences between yourself and the environment and that the animals are wild. Overnight at Damaraland Camp – F/B basis Days 7 & 8: Damaraland & Ongava Lodge From Damaraland, we depart for Ongava Lodge, situated within very close proximity to the famous Etosha National Park - one of the most famous wildlife reserves in Africa. Here you will have leisure time to enjoy at your luxury lodge - situated on a 30 000 hectare private game reserve affording wonderful views across the plains. The Ongava Game Reserve forms a buffer between the Etosha National Park and private farms to the south. The most successful re-introduction project on the reserve involves that of the Black and White Rhino. Within Ongava private game reserve, one can take part in nature walks, night drives and other activities, which are not permitted in the Etosha National Park. Guided day tours into Etosha are also optional activities when staying at Ongava Lodge. Overnight at Ongava Lodge – F/B basis. Day 9: Ongava Lodge - Windhoek Today we will fly back to Windhoek in time to connect with your outbound flight.
