Frequently
Asked Questions - Senior Tours
Are these tours physically demanding?
All our itineraries are specifically laid out to allow sufficient
time for rest and relaxation. For tours where lots of driving
is included, we ensure plenty of rest stops along the way
for stretching legs, photo opportunities, etc.
Will
I have help with large luggage?
Yes, our guides and camp staff are always at hand to assist
with lifting/ carrying of heavy luggage.
Can
I travel alone?
Yes, we do not discriminate against single travelers, provided
you are medically fit to travel alone.
May
I organise a private tour?
Yes. We are happy to custom-design a private tour for small
groups, provided there is a minimum number of 4 clients.
Can
we tailor-make this tour around my preferred dates and number
of days available?
Depending on the availability of our vehicles and guides,
we will do our best to try and accommodate your specific
request – also taking into account any special interests
that your group might have, for example, birding/ fishing/
cultural experience, etc.
Which
types of tours do you have available and with which type
of accommodation?
We have a broad spectrum of options available, from 5-star
hotel and lodges to luxury camping safaris, with various
destinations in three major countries, namely South Africa,
Namibia and Botswana. Whilst on safari we make use of large
safari tents (4.5m x 3m).
Each
tent has its own specially adapted en-suite facilities (bucket
shower & chemical toilet). The en-suite facilities are
an enormous safety feature in the bush environment as there
is no reason to exit the tent during the night. There is
ample room for wheelchair manoeuvrability as well as the
bed heights are fixed for easy transfer from the wheel-chair.
All bedding is provided, i.e. mattress, duvet, sheets, pillows
and extra warm blankets. By having these well-ventilated,
insect proof tents, we have no limitations as to our planned
destinations. We also include lodges or hotels where applicable
as part of our itineraries.
Should
a client experience a medical emergency, how would ES react
to this situation?
In South Africa, we are generally always within close proximity
to hospitals of International standard, Should for whatever
reason this not be the case, we will organise an emergency
air evacuation, to the nearest major hospital for further
medical help. In Botswana and Namibia or other countries
to the North of South Africa, where we find ourselves further
from major city centres, in the event of a medical emergency,
that the local professional medical services, feel needs
hospitalisation, we will without question organise an emergency
air evacuation, to South Africa, or Windhoek the capital
of Namibia. We also have a comprehensive medical kit for
general first aid procedures.
I
am absolutely not disabled, may I still travel with Endeavour
Safaris?
There are many companies world wide that are specialising
in senior travel, imagine a company that deals with a variety
of disabilities. Do you not think they can really cater
for some very able senior travellers?
